While outside late at night the other week looking for black widows to take care of, I was able to get this video. Nature at work seems to fit perfectly as a title wouldn't you agree?
Follow along with me as I create and maintain organic raised garden beds and landscape in the extreme and unforgiving Arizona desert! Learn, share and ask questions. Together this garden blog will provide valuable knowledge of working organic principals to create your own mini ecosystem. Let's make the garden the first place you want to go and the last place you want to leave!

Spider waiting for food!
A new found friend in the garden at night. This spider was sitting, waiting for some food to come crawling along this metal agave plant.
If I had to guess I would say this spider was about 1" in length.

Spider egg on window

Thought this was a little strange, at least I've never seen it much...
This is a spider egg attatched to a window, right smack on the glass.
I'll have to try and see what crawls out of there.

A few more insect images to share
Take a look at a few insect photos I took over the past few days!
This insect was really interesting to look at. I have no idea what it is, however the second picture shows how close it resembles hay. I know it came out blurry, but that is a small piece of hay next the insect. They look almost identical.
Here is a spider that is actually very, very small. I just zoomedin on him to show more detail.
And last we have a cool looking grasshopper mixedin with some mesquite tree trimmings.

Two new friends found today
Found these guys today...glad they didn't find me!
This is one of the larger scorpions I've seen around here. I think this BIG, (about 8" with the tale extended!), scorpion is a bark scorpion and not something we want in the garden. Although a scorpion can be a great help in the yard / garden by eating the over abundant supply of crickets we have, this one is poisonous and will be released in the desert. If it's not a bark scorpion please let me know.
Here it is crawling on the block wall. I have read that the bark scorpion is the only scorpion that can crawl up walls etc., however this wall is very coarse so I'm not sure if it's a bark scorpion or not?
This little guy wasn't so little either! I'd guess about 1"1/4 or so which is big to me for a spider. I found this guy by the side of a potted plant, probably waiting for those evil crickets, lol. Anyway, if you know what the heck it's called please let me know!

Large spiders crawling around
Found a little scary surprise while watering tonight!
Look at the size of these spiders! They are about 2" x 2", and that female spider with the egg sack must have been almost another 1" longer!
Anyone know what they are called and if they are garden helpers? I let them be for now until I can further research what they do.
LOOK AT THAT EGG SACK! GOOD GRIEF!
I hope they are on my side! lol
