Avocado pit is showing a nice root

Not so long after being set half way in water, this avocado pit has grown a nice looking root.



But be careful, as growing avocado pits can become very addicting as you can see here
with the seven I've got!

Let's grow an avocado from the pit!

First you need to get an avocado pit and wash it, three toothpicks and a jar.

Stick the toothpicks into the avocado pit and set on top of jar. Make sure to have the smaller pointed end of the pit facing up.

Now fill the jar with water just enough to cover the bottom of the avocado pit.

Place in a sunny location and wait until roots grow down into the jar. You may want to scrape the skin off around the bottom of the pit to help the roots start. It should take about 2-6 weeks for roots to show, it's been said that some  avocado pits can take up to three  months to root!
