Get ready for more rain tonight

A big storm is headed our way according to the local news reports. It should hit us with a lot of rain and wind sometime after 7pm.

I think I will cover my citrus trees with some frost cloth Sunday night since they are just now starting to burst with new growth. The new growth is what will burn really easily with a freeze. I think everything we have in the garden should be ok without covering. The broccoli and cauliflower are getting HUGE!

Still cold in the mornings in the garden

The mornings in the garden have been reallt cold still, however, the daytime highs are very nice hitting around 73-75. It's a little breezy today as well which always make things feel colder.

Anyway, the Whitfill garden hour radio show was on today so I look forward to posting the link to the recording once the radio station adds it to their website.

Frost and freeze plant damage in our Arizona landscape - January 2011

Wake up with the wind!

So today we wake up with the wind blowing like mad outside! I have left the two raised gardens uncovered, no frost cloth, for the last week and fear that this wind may destroy all our hard work. The wind is one thing to deal with but, the cold weather in the mornings make it twice as hard to want to go outside, lol.
